On March 29th and 30th, NFL Player Leger Douzable and his foundation had a fundraiser kickoff event at the Florida Museum of Photography where friends, family and foundation funders gathered together for a silent auction. The auction raised money to fund more scholarships in addition to the two the foundation gave out. In words straight from his foundation website page, "The Leger Douzable Foundation empowers and inspires at promise youth with an opportunity for a better future through advocacy, education, sportsmanship and scholarships.
The Leger Douzable Foundation is committed to the academic and athletic development of youth from underprivileged and/or low-income communities. The foundation seeks to enrich the lives of these young people by providing informative workshop and camps that they may not otherwise have direct access to due to a lack of funding and opportunities. These activities and tools are created to provide: instruction, knowledge, life skills and scholarships to help children achieve their goals one child at a time.
Our mantra is “Pressing Forward”, it is used to motivate the youth to have a mind-set, a stick-to-itiveness that helps them to persevere through the challenges that life brings with successful planning and goal setting.
On the 30th the Leger and his NFL friends, Carlos Dunlap and Louis Murphy participated in a free football youth camp at Alonzo High School.
