My wife Tampa Bay Tammy and I took a road trip to Miami to participate in the 12 annual World Economic Summit in hopes of finding our strategic place in this global world.
International power players from around the world gathered at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables to share ideas and security was thick. Dignitaries, CEO’s, executives and Board Chairs, were making power moves and sharing relevant data to the more than 1,500 participants in the World Strategic Forum. The Summit was presented by The International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA).
On the first day the forum covered global economics, finance and innovation. On day two the topics covered were energy, infrastructure and sustainable development. Small groups broke off and discussed The Future of Work’, Cyber security and Hyper-connectivity, Disrupting Transportation, International Trade and The Diversity Dividend.
Nicholas Re’millard, President & CEO of IEFA, welcomed the speakers and attendees and shared their mission to “address the major governance challenges of the new world economic order, focusing on the central role of the Americas and in the global market.” The objective of the World Strategic Forum is to foster a better understanding of opportunities and challenges at stake for the Americas in the Global Market.”
A lot of handshaking and back slapping took place in the courtyard of the Biltmore where the major players networked with the attendees during a coffee/dessert break after a delicious lunch. The two day event brought out some major players from all over the world. Ibukun Awosika-Board Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Arnold Donald-CEO of Carnival Corporation, Alex Rossi-Managing Partner of Liv Capital, Enrico Letta-Prime Minister of Italy (2013-2014), Francis R Fannon - Asst. Sec., Bureau of Energy Resources for the U.S. Dept. of State, Becky Frankiewicz - President of North America Man Power Group, Ryan Kelly-Head of Marketing & Communications of Virgin Hyperloop One, Shawn Qu-CEO of Canadian Solar and my all time favorite (pictured with me) Retired NFL player Ray Lewis Co-Founder of Power 52 Energy Solutions, just to name a few. However, I noticed that Canada, Haiti and Latin America had a very strong presence.
The IEFA will host 3 other forums this year in Montreal, Toronto, and Paris.
