The mother of the Jacob Family Dynasty is laid to rest. Pastor Vanda Jacobs of Tampa Florida had family and friends assemble at the church of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church on E. Cayuga Street, officiated by Apostle Samuel Phillips of The Refreshing Church. More than eight hundred attended the funeral and approximately six hundred attended the wake. A true testament to her life was represented by her devoted attendees.
The church was rocking, the choir was singing, the speakers were on point and her husband of 48 years, Reverend Rochester 'Jake' Jacobs delivered her eulogy like none other.
There were many messages of her enduring love of the Lord and family and all the things she did as a soldier for Christ. Apostles Kennedy Jacobs, James Howell along with Bishops Wilburt Randall, Charles Cody, Prophet Ronald Thomas, Reverends Cleveland Lane, Betsy Mohead, Tony Parker, Hope Simpson, Elders Sharri Ellis, Terri Rae and friends Ann Thompson, Walter Jennings, Joan Williams, Shirley Floyd, Linda Morris, Betty Moody and Noretta Shivers were all on program and there to recognize Pastor Vanda Jacobs. Her classmates from Potter Elementary in Tampa and the Jackson Heights community were there in full support.
Florida Congresswoman Cathy Castor of the 14th District sent a resolution to the family read by Chloe Coney, of the Corporation to Develop Communities, (CDC). A copy of the resolution will be placed in the Halls of Congress where it will forever remain.
The Jacob Children sang her favorite song ‘Everlasting God’ as a tribute.
Saxophonist Ardail Sam Allen blew his horn like Gabriel and the people of the church said Amen and amen again. I'm sure she was smiling from heaven as her grandchildren and great grandchildren sent her home in grand style singing the song, 'Grateful'. Oh what a wonderful home going service for our sister and soldier in Christ, Pastor Vanda M. Jacobs.
