Tampa, FL — The Tampa Organization of Black Affairs (TOBA) is thrilled to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 TOBA Leadership Institute (TLI). Since its founding in 1979, TOBA has served as a cornerstone in the Black community, championing critical issues in politics, education, social justice, and economic empowerment.

Building on its legacy of advocacy and community impact, TOBA launched the TOBA Leadership Institute in 2020 to inspire, empower, and equip the next generation of leaders. This transformative program is designed to address the unique challenges facing Black communities while fostering innovation and collaboration among emerging leaders.

Spanning five months, the TOBA Leadership Institute offers a comprehensive experience that includes:

  • In-Depth Learning: Topics such as civic engagement, urban planning, and community development are explored through engaging workshops and seminars.

  • Community Enhancement Projects: Participants conduct rigorous research and develop innovative strategies to address societal challenges, presenting their projects to the broader community.

  • Leadership Development: The program cultivates leadership skills and provides opportunities for meaningful dialogue and networking with community leaders and peers.

“The TOBA Leadership Institute is more than just a program—it’s a movement,” said Ricky Burney, TLI Executive Planning Committee Member. “We are preparing our future leaders to become agents of change and innovation in their communities.”

Applications for the 2025 cohort are now open and will close on Sunday, January 26, 2025. TOBA invites aspiring leaders from diverse backgrounds to seize this opportunity to grow, contribute, and make a lasting impact.  To learn more and apply, visit the TOBA Leadership Institute website at TOBA Leadership Institute.

Together, we are igniting change through leadership development. Join us in shaping the future.
